Running at the Walt Disney World Half Marathon 2011.

Hi, my name is Krissy Murphy (you might know me from HERE) and I am an avid runDisney fan! I started this blog as a way for me to document the process of applying to the Walt Disney World Moms Panel as a runDisney specialist during the 2013 Recruitment Season. Although I did not advance to the panel, I am happy to share my runDisney information and findings for my ever-growing reader base and am excited to continue to apply each year until I am accepted 🙂

The WDW Moms Panel is an online forum for guests of the Disney Parks to ask questions and seek advice regarding vacation planning and opens annually for new applicants. This will be my fourth year applying to become of those elite panelists, and though the competition is fierce, I look forward to sharing the experience.

As part of the initial recruitment process, applicants choose their ‘specialty,’ which include the Walt Disney World Resort, the Disney Cruise Line, Aulani / Adventures by Disney, Disney Vacation Club, the Disneyland Resort, runDisney and ESPN Wide World of Sports Competitions.

EDITED TO ADD: for the 2015 Recruitment Season, several specialties were eliminated. Choices for applicants for this season include Walt Disney World, Disneyland, Disney Cruise Line and Disney Vacation Club.

As mentioned above, I chose runDisney out of this line up because for me, nothing compounds my two biggest passions like the running events that Disney presents at both of their respective domestic theme park and resort venues and my deep adoration for the Disney brand. My first long distance race was the Walt Disney World Half Marathon in 2011, and since crossing that finish line, I’ve gone on to run the 2011 Disneyland Half Marathon, the 2012 Princess Half Marathon and the 2012 Wine and Dine Half Marathon. In 2013, I participated in the Walt Disney World Marathon and Tinkerbell Half Marathon, Double Dumbo Dare at the Disneyland Half Marathon Weekend (all recaps of completed races can be found here), Tower of Terror 10 Miler (and Happy Haunted 5K), and Wine and Dine Half Marathon. In 2014, I added the Inaugural WDW Marathon Weekend 10K and Expedition Everest Challenge to my repertoire, and am excited to return to the Wine and Dine Half Marathon (and Jingle Jungle 5K). All of my past race recaps may be found here.

Next up in 2015….? My first GOOFY CHALLENGE! Yes, a half marathon on Saturday and full on Sunday! I cannot wait.

I am excited to share all my runDisney love  and cannot wait for the next recruitment season, where I’ll be happy to share my adventures once again!

So, if you’re thinking about running Disney…why not give it a try? After all, when you run with Mickey, every mile is magic!

  2. TWINS RUN in our family

Like you, we are both runDisney enthusiasts. We both made it to the 2nd round last year, too. We both took hundreds of takes to make the videos, but it was fun! Good luck to you this year and we’ll follow you on your journey!

Thank you! Check out my alternate blog at shiawaselife.wordpress.com for running advice, but in general, more running = better running 🙂 If you’re a new runner, I’d recommend focusing on time rather than distance until you’re more comfortable. HTH 🙂

  8. Marina

Hi! Marina here, from Airia Running (www.airiarunning.com), the Swedish company behind the fastest running shoe – Airia One. It’s not just a marketing claim – rigorous testing shows that 8 out of 10 runners run faster in Airia One running shoes (shaving anywhere from 1% to 7% off their run time).

But this email is not about that.

I want to recruit you personally to run an independent test of Airia One. I’ll bribe you with a free pair. I also respectfully request that you do a write up about your run for your readers.

Please try a long distance race to really feel the difference of running in Airia One. I’m emphasizing the racing part because it’s really important that you actually race in them. We spent decades engineering and designing Airia One to specifically be the best running shoe – and you are a runner and an early adopter. You are the real life chance to test our years of work. I am counting on you to push both yourself and Airia One to the limit.

Please enter your address and shoe size to get your free pair of Airia One.

I really hope you take me up on this offer/challenge and have your best run ever.

    Kind regards,
