Bucket List Item #7…
Let me just put this out there:
I am a terrible dancer.
Um, what? How could that possibly have anything to do with this bucket list item, officially one week out from departure?
You see, when I first flew down to Walt Disney World for my College Program internship in the summer of 2006, I arrived there with very little knowledge of Disney’s Animal Kingdom. Believe it or not, I had only been to that park once before and was excited to learn more about it.
Early in the internship, I had the pleasure of visiting the park (my roommate Brittanie was an attractions CM at Dinosaur and therefore knew the place like the back of her hand) and so we spent a few hours there one day, noshing at Flame Tree BBQ, grabbing a few rounds on Expedition Everest and fatefully, Mickey’s Jammin’ Jungle Parade….
Now, let’s get this straight…I was not the biggest fan of parades. In fact, I often saw them as necessary distractions for a majority of park guests that allowed me to access attractions with much shorter lines. I thought parades were loud, crowded and even a bit annoying.
This parade changed ALL of that.
Somehow, this parade and I…well, we connected. The music SPOKE to me. I let go of all my inhibitions and broke into my own dance jam, right there on the side of the parade route. People laughed, children stared and cast members clapped at my unfortunate lack of rhythm. It was magical.
If you don’t break into song and dance watching this parade…I just…no. You cannot NOT celebrate! I am so excited to see this parade again with my friend, Michelle – oh and P.S. consider yourself warned, Michelle 😉
